ETOPIA 2021

One day, a good friend of mine told me that a renowned Moscow arts center wanted him to create an installation for an exhibition they were doing on the. underground scene. It’s a bit of an oxymoron when a sentence contains renowned Moscow arts center and underground scene in one sentence, but somehow, someone came up with the idea and they found him, Etock. Now, my friend needed help. He needed a team who could help install, design, and organize the space— who did he ask? Me, because he knew I was a team player who could contribute to coming up with creative ideas in a collaborative environment. Below, you can find a lot of information about the exhibition. Besides helping with installation, I also documented the event to showcase other aspects of underground culture: like music, sports [skateboarding], and ideology.

In the end, I am unsure what sort of impact this had on changing the way these countercultures are seen by those who are not a part of them, but I do hope to show the refuge the arts gives to those who belong to these countercultures. Lastly, my friendship with Etock is strong, and I have participated in a number of his projects. You can find additional work I have done for him, including commercial (fashion) photography, under my “works & services” page.
